He was born
in a lost & found.
On the night the old Moonbeam Laundromat lost power, a tiny pink hand reached out from the dryer marked NO. 8 — MISC. The attendant found a boy wrapped in a warm, mismatched sock. No name. No note. Just a little black curl on his head shaped like a question mark.
The regulars raised him between spin cycles and closing time. The night janitor taught him to listen. The busker taught him three chords. A retired tailor showed him how to mend a pocket. And every morning, people left behind the things they thought nobody would miss.
Musty kept them all. Not because they smelled funny (though some did), but because each lost thing carried a little piece of a story. One day, those stories began whispering back.
